Just saw the first episode of "Lovecraft Country".
First of all, watch the opening dream sequence. Yes, they address the racism in Lovecraft (and in all weird fiction) early on. Believe me, the racism in the first episode is scarier than the monsters, and that's coming from a middle aged white woman, but it's early days yet. The monsters might just get creepier.
This is totally going to be a new obsession for me.

Re: Lovecraft Country
I just watched the first episode as well and it was fantastic. I had heard good things about the book. The first I heard about it was actually as an observation that it deals more with the Green Book than the Green Book movie did. I'm so glad that Lovecraft's racism is becoming more well known in the mainstream.

It is, but it’s usually discussed as something separate from his mental health issues or his genius. From what I know of his life he’s one of those for whom the line between madness and genius is really thin, even more so than Tesla.WolfofWords wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 11:46 pm. I have watched the first episode as well. I am sure I will be watching it every week. The racism aspect was a little emotional for me, but it was well done.

I can imagine it was. I come at it from a different perspective, obviously, but it made me angry and scared. I just hope people don't think they played up the racism for the show.

Re: Lovecraft Country
That's a shame. I was excited to see where the story might go next. I look forward to what everybody involved does next.
