Wiz-War

Post by scooter »

There is now a 9th Edition of Wiz-War. It's a Kickstarter project, with art by Phil Foglio.

Unfortunately, the only person I've seen reviewing it had never played before, so there's no telling whether or not they corrected all of the rule shenanigans they did with it in the 8th Edition, which is...playable, but much more boring. One person who commented on the review said that he didn't see the expected huge amount of tokens with the game to mark things like the Thornbush, the Golem, the Fire Imp, and other cards and creations. It just wouldn't be any fun if you couldn't collapse a wall on somebody.

I do have, somewhere in my gaming folder, a list of created cards for what is essentially another expansion deck. I should break that out sometime. The 5th Edition is definitely the best and needs to have lots of cards like those.

I vaguely remember playing this on board game nights with y'all. It was fun.

Yes, we did it at an in person craft night. It' s a lot of fun, and I'm excited about the Phil Foglio art!

Seems a bit pricey though...

There is a Print 'n' Play version out there which takes off 5th Edition. That might be interesting (and much cheaper) and might allow for the custom cards.

Frankly, it would be good to create a fork from 5th E, given where they went from Fantasy Flight (8th). Could play that; probably couldn't sell it...
