Have you ever played the board game Monopoly?

Is it a good way to teach children about commerce?

Whats your longest monopoly game?

Two days. That game teaches kids about the evils of wealth and money.

Played it, own it (sitting on the shelf next to me right now), haven't played it in a while. It takes sooooo long to finish a game. Theres been times when I played it for days and days.

We played it when we were kids. Haven't in a long time now. For those who like Monopoly, have you tried the alternate version, Go For Broke? I have the old game from when I was a kid still. I actually think it was more fun than Monopoly!

I collected them for a while. I think I've got (or had) a dozen versions. Cats, Lord of the Rings, Buffy, Create Your Own, Halloween, Christmas, etc.

We generally played the short version because game nights were for variety not the long haul.

Is that the one where you basically pass out all the properties at the start?

Also intrigued about "Create-Your-Own-Opoly"...might inspire me to post about a similar card game...

It makes me want to create my own Monopoly version or several.

No.... it was.... mmm You had a marker like an unused token that you put on the first property and then you got a colored die (2 non-matching 6d) and play proceeded as normal. When you rolled a 6 or 1 or whatever on the special die, you moved the token forward one space. When it got all the way around the board a couple of times, the game was over and whoever had the most cash won.

And I think the create your own game was this - looks right...

And now...EXTREME Monopoly.

If this game makes any sense to you, please do not explain it to me.
