Subtle but interesting variant: pawns can now move one or two spaces forward anywhere they are on the board. That's it. :nerd:

Capturing is still as normal, one space diagonally.

There's also a corresponding change in en passant capture, which is now enabled anywhere on the board, provided the captured piece is a pawn which had just moved two spaces forward.

I'm pretty sure we played this variation back in chess club in high school. We only had so long to play so we coupled this with hurrying a lot (without the time clock).
