The New World Order Theme Was Repetitive
Imagine this playing five to six times a night. Since the song represented the entire New World Order (NWO) it could be played for any of 18 - 20 guys. So when it played, you had no idea who was coming to the ring. Just that same guitar riff over and over forever from 1996 to 1999 (and a little in 2000).
Later, the faction split off and NWO Hollywood kept the above theme and NWO Wolfpac eventually got the much cooler theme posted below. Still, the Wolfpac theme had the same problem as it represented six or seven guys. (Most of whom were too white for a rap theme song but that's a different problem altogether)
