Text predictions
Is it me, or are text predictions just annoying? I'm starting to fear a world where people can't compose in anything but SMS-l33tsp33k...I mean, computers are tools. They should make your job easier, but should not be thinking for you.

Re: Text predictions
I don't mind them in GMail since it honestly saves me time but having them in programs like Word sounds like a nightmare. It feels like Google's autocomplete in the search bar which sometimes is eerily accurate but other times I'm like "Stop interrupting my thought process! I'm already ADHD, I don't need more distractions." At least it's an option you can turn off.

Re: Text predictions
Had to deal with it today, as a matter of fact. I mean, I pride myself on decent diction and phrase...I was spending more time erasing their suggestion than I was actually writing in certain places.

Re: Text predictions
That's odd. In Gmail, the text predictor puts the suggestions in a grayed out text, you only accept them if you want. Otherwise, you just keep typing what you want. Being forced to go back and delete their suggestions does sound really annoying.

Re: Text predictions
That is the case, unless you are composing on your phone and make pretty much any stray press or movement within the text editor, or brush against the side of the screen, or perhaps think about it too hard or something, any of which causes it to un-gray and proudly display its own text which is obviously what you meant to say, really.WolfofWords wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 11:10 am That's odd. That *does* suck. You would think that since they are designing everything based on mobile these days that they would know that touchscreens are impossibly hard to trouble-proof.
