The FFVII Cross-Dressing Mission

You play as Cloud Strife. After a mission to blow up one of Shinra's reactors goes wrong, Cloud is separated from the rest of Avalanche including his childhood friend Tifa Lockhart. While he works to navigate back to find his team, he pals around with Aerith Gainsborough. When Cloud and Aerith finally make it back, they find that Tifa has been selected to audition to be Don Corneo's wife. Cloud is determined to rescue Tifa and Aerith decides to help him out. Their initial plan is to get Aerith into the audition too. Eventually, it is decided that Cloud will also get into the audition which requires crossdressing.

In the original game, this meant traveling around Wall Market to collect various things to make Cloud a believable woman. The only parts that are necessary to proceed are a wig and a dress. However, Cloud can also collect makeup, perfume, and underwear. If you collect the best versions of all of these, you can be selected as Don Corneo's wife before you attack him.

In the remake, Aerith and Cloud fight through an underground coliseum to obtain a pricy dress for Aerith. The local strip club owner then takes an interest in Cloud and gives him a makeover and a dress. He actually looks pretty damned good.

What I love about the remake is their approach was way better decades later. They did not hit the wacky gay stereotypes this time. They give Cloud more agency in the plan. They cut out the weird sidequest that had connotations of male-on-male sexual assault. Cloud is a bit embarrassed to crossdress but he adjusts to it which leads to the scene above.

Do I want to know?

It's tamer than I implied but in the original, you can go to the Honey Bee Inn which is heavily implied to be a love hotel and brothel. In the remake, it is more of a high-class nightclub that employs sexy women dressed like bees. In the original, Cloud can get a VIP pass to the Honey Bee Inn by completing sidequests. If he goes in dressed as a woman, he can get one of the prostitutes to do his makeup. If he goes in dressed as a man he can select one of two rooms. The "Group" room is suddenly invaded by a bunch of dudes who coerce Cloud into bathing with them after which Cloud gets the key item Bikini Briefs. If he goes into the "&$#%" room then Cloud goes into a shame spiral caused by being in a brothel and passes out. He wakes up with a man on top of him, shaking him awake who gives him the key item "Lingerie". You can also look and listen through the keyholes of two other doors and find some people in compromising situations.

The remake is completely different and way more fun
