That Movie that Blue Öyster Cult Composed

Strange how reality works. I was thinking about this band earlier this week and then I randomly rediscovered this soundtrack.

I am obsessed with the movie studio Full Moon Pictures, a company helmed by madman Charles Band. Charlie is a B-movie schlockmeister but he is one of the most entertaining guys to do it. He also has had a marvelous ability to get people on board for his movies that you would not expect. Some, like Helen Hunt and Demi Moore, were cast before they were famous. Some others like Chuck Connors were in the twilight of their career. Some others just agreed to do it because his sets were a lot of fun.

But who knows why Blue Öyster Cult decided to get involved? I do not know. They contributed two brand new songs to the movie Bad Channels and Buck Dharma scored the movie's incidental music. Of course, this was in 1992 during a period when the band was not releasing albums. Still, it is an amazing soundtrack for a movie that only I remember.

It involves a fungus alien taking over a radio station and using the airwaves to kidnap young women via rocking tunes. He then shrinks the females down to doll size for some reason. Eventually, the disc jockey saves the day and vanquished the alien and frees the babes.

Yeah. BOC is a nerdy band that wrote a song about Godzilla, scoring a horror movie isn't out of that wheelhouse. This is such a great soundtrack, though.
