First thoughtson the ST themes:
- Simp Team take 2: classic
- Space Commander: ok, but all pomp, no circumstance
- Starship Theme:I like it, good balance of look at the scenery and go for the action
- Heroic fanfare: just what it says on the tin

I think I like Journey to the Stars (this fifth one) best. I also like Sci-Fi Fanfare out of the original 4.

It was today o' clock (I guess yesterday now) when I realized that the system I'd picked out for the game didn't have any rules for ship-to-ship combat.
Now there is Star Fleet Battles, the tactical game which skirts artfully around Paramount's license on the franchise, and it works pretty good, but I'd rather make things a bit quicker and looser and keep the emphasis on role-playing...so I'm writing a version which is vaguely similar but a lot easier to deal with. I've now got a basic set of rules that will work, and will be playtesting them at some point...the idea will be to get the numbers right.
There will also be some new skills to use, mostly dealing with Starfleet training, which is another thing I'll be working on.
