One time I was playing with Microsoft's Sam on Windows XP, and I think I had a bit of a dream about being able to have a great conversation one day with AI. 20 years later I am still very much disappointed by our lack of AI companions. All the right pieces seem to be in place, like deep learning algorithms, voice recognition, and Internet connectivity... but somehow it hasn't clicked yet.
