The chip maker Intel has apparently just had a huge data breach, involving a great deal of its intellectual property, which is now being posted publicly.

It seems that the password on it was "Intel123".

Right you are! And if you have too many passwords to remember, Atlantic recommends the use of a password safe. That is a piece of software where you need memorize only one master password to get into it...and inside it lists all the other passwords for your other sites. The safe is encrypted, so it can't be easily obtained without that master password, and it can be stored on your computer or on your phone. (In fact, it's good to keep copies up to date in both places, just in case.)

Yes, it's true that we're moving to systems that do not use passwords, which can be a good thing...but the basic upshot is that even with these systems, we aren't going to have decent security until end users take personal responsibility for it.
